Tell us about Nakia...

Nakia has been in Georgia more than half his life.  He was moved to Georgia from Tennessee where he grew up as he worked for BellSouth as a Facility Manager. 

Upon moving to Georgia, Nakia got into law enforcement and served for 12 years.  

Nakia obtained his real estate license as a means to provide more for his family.  Ultimately, Nakia hung up his gun belt to pursue his passion of real estate.

Nakia lives in Braselton, (Jackson County) with his wife Elizabeth.  They have four kids, once grandson (Rowan) and another grandbaby due in Novement 2024.  They have three dogs, Charlie, Pebbles and Sheldon.  

In Nakia's freetime, he loves to kayak fish and take his mind off real estate by building things out of wood. 

As Vice President of Governmental Affairs, what will your role entail?

This position serves several purposes.  

First, this position serves as a LIAISON for five committees to report back to the Executive Committee and then ultimately to the Board of Directors.

- REALTOR® Political Involvement
- REALTOR® Issues Action
- REALTOR® Political Action
- State and Local Government Affairs

In addition to assisting in the leadership of the above committees - the VP will also serve on six other committees as a member.

This position is to assist in promoting the strategic plan and mission and vision of the association.

Where did Nakia begin his journey in Leadership?

Nakia was in law enforcement for many years.  Law Enforcement is very structured in how they work.  That structure is what started Nakia's leadership journey to help others and serve tirelessly in that pursuit of helping others.

Why do you feel you are qualified for this position?

Having jumped in with both feet in real estate, Nakia sold hundreds of homes in the span of about 15 years as a Salesperson.  Nakia wanted to further his education and worked to obtain his Broker's license.  Being in sales, it's important for a broker to be in the trenches and know what the licensees under are experiencing.  Nakia began teaching as well as a way to give back to the industry.  Now having taught thousands of students across the nation and seeing how others do things, it's given Nakia the experience to lead as an agent first, then leader second.

How did you become National Ambassador of the Year for C2EX?

The National Assocation of REALTORS® launched the C2EX program in 2019.  In an effort to promote the program, they selected several members to share about the programs before events, board meetings, and online means to get the word out.  

Nakia was selected as an NAR Ambassador in 2019 and was the only Georgia Ambassador for many years. 

Each year, they select one from the list of all from across the Nation to be the Ambassador of the Year.  This is based on number of presenations given, the number of members that were exposed to the program based on that Ambassadors efforts. 

Nakia Brooks was selected from over 250 in the nation to represent the Nation!
